    - What are the three key differences between hard skills vs. soft skills?

There is a big difference between hard and soft skills, the left side of brain or a high IQ is inherent for hard skills, everything regarding numbers, statistics and definitive specific results in any process or operation. The opposite side of high IQ is the emotional skills, for this abilities is responsible the right side of our brain, for example in any kind area of business, human resources department can not work with people as with statistics and numbers, the IQ level become unnecessary, because manager work not with numbers which all the time are being silent and don’t talk to you, working with people means to have that abilities that would help you to understand the employees and try to help them.

I think that hard skills can be define as fixed abilities, meanwhile soft skills all the time fluctuates, I mean that to solve a difficult task, everything that you’ll need is just open some books and try to find the magical formula. Solving a task by soft skills it is an art, because to work with people I think is the hardest job, you have to understand him, you must give some solutions and to try to change his opinion, rules for hard skills are fixed, rules for soft skills aren’t.

Another difference between hard and soft skills is that hard skills can be learned by almost any one, but to be a professional in soft skills, it is not available for everyone.
Basically hard skills are taught by books, great abilities in soft skills require trials and errors, if you are not adaptable to any situation, you will bloody crash. I mean that soft skills can be taught only through experience, that’s why life is considered the greatest school ever.

    - What are the 3 categories careers can be put into?

Category number 1: Careers that need hard skills and little soft skills.
Category number 2: Careers that need both hard and soft skills.
Category number 3: Careers that need mostly soft skills and little hard skills.

    2.

    - What is a skill?
Skill is the ability and confidence to accomplish tasks.

    - What are soft skills influenced by?
Soft skills are influenced by us as a person, by our personality, by how we are.

    - What are three other names for soft skills?
    Behavioral competencies
    Interpersonal skills
    People skills

    - Why does an IT person need soft skills?
I think that the main reasons why an IT worker needs soft skills are:
Every day to be at work in time and to avoid delays, to do his job independently, to deal with any type of user, he must be able to understand very well the client’s need, consequently results would be better.

    - What are hard skills?
Anything that can be learned by books and courses, it can be the ability and knowledge to accomplish any procedure and process related to your job, managing accounts, taxes, payments and many others operations, build any type of construction, PC, web design, statistical data, engineering etc.

    3.
5 main soft skills in my opinion are:
    1. Communication skills.
    2. Listening skills
    3. Eye contact skills.
    4. Team work skills.
    5. Positive attitude.

In my opinion this five soft skills are the most important, because they represent the basics abilities that are required for a manager or employee that works with people. For example if someone’s is coming to you hoping that you are the right person who will find the answer on his question, that’s why communication, listening and eye contact are stunning important, these three skills will help you to understand his paints and struggles. Team work and positive attitude may encourage you listener to be more positive and thrilled in solving the situation, more over a good solution can make you listener utterly forget the dead horses and to move on.

Three Key Differences between Hard Skills vs. Soft Skills
    • To be good at hard skills usually takes smarts or IQ (also known as your left brain-the logical center). To be good at soft skills usually takes Emotional Intelligence or EQ (also known as your right brain- the emotional center). Examples of hard skills include math, physics, accounting, programming, finance, biology, chemistry, statistics, etc. Soft skills are: self awareness, emotion management, self-confidence, stress management, resilience, persistence, patience.
    • Hard skills are skills where the rules stay the same regardless of which company, circumstance or people you work with. In contrast, soft skills are self management skills and people skills where the rules changes depending on the company culture and people you work with. For example, programming is a hard skill. Communication skills are a set of soft skills.
    • Hard skills can be learned in school and from books. There are usually designated level of competency and a direct path as to how to excel with each hard skill. For example, accounting is a hard skill. You can take basic accounting and then advanced accounting courses. You can then work to get experience and then take an exam and be certified as a CPA, etc. In contrast, there is no simple path to learn soft skills. Most soft skills are not taught well in school and have to be learned on the job by trial and error. There are many books and guides on soft skills
    - What are the 3 categories careers can be put into?
Careers can be put into 3 kinds of categories. It is up to you to figure out which category your career is in.
    1) Careers that need hard skills and little soft skills (example: Physicists); this is where you see brilliant people who cannot deal well with people. They can still be very successful in their career (as an example can be Albert Einstein).
    2) Careers that need both hard and soft skills – many careers are in this category, example: Accountants, Lawyers – they need to know the rules of accounting or law well, but they also depend on selling to clients to build a successful career. Dealing well with clients require excellent soft skills like communication skills, relationship skills.
    3) Careers that need mostly soft skills and little hard skills, example: sales. A car salesman don’t really need to know that much about cars, just a little more than the consumer. His job is more dependent on his ability to read his customers, communicate his sales pitch, persuasion skills, and skills to close to deal.

    2. Take the test and write about the skills you need to improve.
The skills that I need to improve are: 1. MANAGING YOURSELF; 2. COMMUNICATION; 3. ORGANIZATIONAL SAVVY; 4. SELF PROMOTION; 5. DEALING WITH DIFFERENCES; 6. HANDLING OTHERS.

    - Why does an IT person need soft skills?
An IT person not only should know how to program, but also be able to deal with users (internal and external) to better understand what will be useful to them.
    - What are hard skills?
Hard skills are your knowledge and ability to accomplish a process or procedure related to your job.

    4. Watch the Career Gate - Soft Skills and write 5 ones that, in your opinion, are the most important of all.
From my point of view the most important soft skills are: communication skills, team player, desire to learn, listening skills, appearance. Communication skills are so important no matter what job you have; team work is good because you can get more one as a group than just one person; if you have the ability to learn you will teach these skills and become a great personality; listening skills are so important, because you have to be a very active listener otherwise you could not help this person; appearance is the way you are wearing and how you present yourself.

  6. 2. Take the test and write about the skills you need to improve.
After taking the test on Soft Skills i found out that i need to improve the following soft skills, and here are some description of each of them:
    *COMMUNICATION
Though we’re more connected than ever, our communication skills have reached an all-time low. While no doubt e-mail, text messaging, and web conferencing have made connecting with each other faster and easier, we still have a long way to go when it comes to mastering one of the most important soft skills of all: being an effective communicator. Whether you are addressing one or one thousand people — face-to-face, on the phone, or through the wires — your communication skills or lack thereof can make or break your career.
    * DEALING WITH DIFFERENCES
Nowadays, just as you might find a rich assortment of music — rock, classical, jazz, rap, hip-hop, pop, gospel, and the blues — happily co-existing on the same iPod, most work environments include tremendous diversity — from gender and age to ethnicity and culture. Yet without deft soft skills, the happily co-existing part doesn’t come very easily. An increasingly diverse workplace demands mastery of a whole slew of soft skills: emotional self-control, empathy, motivating those who operate from a different competitive framework, finding the best in every person, and keeping ourselves in check when it comes to stereotyping.
    *HANDLING OTHERS
Managing others at work takes on a variety of forms, from dealing with difficult people — like bully bosses or contentious colleagues — to supervising your direct reports. Some of the most important soft skills you’ll need to more effectively handle those around you are knowing your strengths and weaknesses, taking the initiative to address your shortcomings, influencing and motivating people to think and act the way you want, encouraging others to share their ideas, expressing your needs and goals clearly, being mindful, and treating everyone with respect regardless of rank.

  9. 1) Hard Skills vs. Soft Skills

    - What are the three key differences between hard skills vs. soft skills?

The first difference is hard skills usually take Intelligence quotient while soft skills usually take Emotional quotient.
The second is: hard skills are based on stable rules that remain the same in different companies while the soft skills are based on changeable rules depending on the company and its management.
The third is: hard skills are almost learned at school and can be trained quickly while soft skills are not being taught at school and have to be learnt at job or on your.

    - What are the 3 categories careers can be put into?
Careers can be put into 3 categories:
    a) Careers that imply more hard skills than soft
    b) Careers that imply equally hard and soft skills
    c) Careers that imply more of soft skills and little hard skills
    2) Skills I need to improve are : managing myself; communication; organizational savvy; self promotion; dealing with differences; handling others.
    3) A skill is one’s ability and confidence to accomplish tasks.
Soft skills are influenced by our personality, the way we have been raised and trained.
Other three names for the soft skills are: behavioral competencies, interpersonal skills and people skills.
An IT person needs soft skills because he is every time dealing with users and he will need soft skills to better understand what they want and what is useful for them.
Hard skills are your knowledge and ability to accomplish a process or procedure related to your job; are the technical or administrative knowledge that an employee must have to support the activities of a specific business activity or a job.

    4) The 5 most important Soft Skills are the following: communication skills: listening skill; positive attitude; team work and professional appearance. In my opinion this skills are very important for someone to get a job, besides at the University we need that skills to be organized; to know how to deal with teachers, to work in team (that is our group). Positive attitude is always welcomed because it is a way to predispose people to you that also include professional appearance, which is a kind of respect you gain when meeting coworkers or clients at work.
