The project I chose is called “The only way is Up” because I think the problem that is described there is very actual nowadays, even if we live in XXI century.
It is a pity that in such a world, full of computerized systems, technologies and high development, people from over 170 upland villages have known just now what means comfort and an easier access to the water.
The video is about the Alternative Indigenous Development Foundation Inc. (AIDFI). Using the power of a river's flow to literally push water uphill without any other energy input, it's proving to be a boon for poor villagers living in mountainous regions. The ram pump can save both hours of back-breaking work carrying water and cash where expensive water pumps are replaced. Also AIDFI has plans to spread the benefits far and wide among poor communities.
What impressed me is that it didn’t need an expensive hydraulic ram pump, to achieve the thousand citizen’s dream, but just an ingenious idea that deserve to be a winner project, because it helped a lot of villages. A lot of people needed this change and don’t even pay for electricity or fuel because ram pumps uses the power of the water, and they gain a lot.

I choose the project “Tech Crunch”. The technology, nowadays, is changing very quickly and it is a problem what to do with the oldest one. I think the idea of recycling the chemicals and rare metals inside the laptops and phones, which are particularly harmful, is very good and can be implemented in every country and it will reduce the influence of the technology on the environment, which is very important, and, also, it will reduce the waste of precious resources that can be replaced through fresh mining. It is an easy solution for a big problem that saves money of the producers of these technologies. At the same time every of us is throwing away all this stuff instead of giving them into a specialized place, where these are dismantled and separated into recyclable materials and toxic waste that can be disposed of safely, that will increase the investment, the more people will want to buy new things because they will know what to do with the old ones. This project of the innovative use of technology is going to be sustainable after the grant’s period runs out, because every of us understand the importance of recycling and its positive aspect.

From my opinion, a reasonable choice it may be the project “Tech Crunch”. Safely disposing of E-waste from broken computers and other outmoded electronic gadgets is becoming a bigger problem as the world becomes ever more wired. Some chemicals and rare metals inside the electronics are very harmful to the environment and recycling them it will be a good choice, because we save some money and do not harm the environment. Also, the details may be separated into recyclable and dangerous ones in order to use the good details in new technologies. 'Recycla' is the first and only electronic waste recycling social enterprise in Latin America. The company aims to tackle the problem of the eight million mobile phones and one million computers that are discarded in Chile annually. This project may help to increase the economic activity of the country by gaining some money for other important activities.
